That God that you have been taught punishes and is mean and vengeful didn’t start the universe and back off to let things go as they might. He also is the God who saves us.
Psalms 115:3 “But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.”
Ephesians 1:11 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will”.
Isaiah 43:11 “I, I am Yahweh; and beside me there is no savior.”
John 10:30 “I and my Father are one.”
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
If you throw away part of the Word of God, such as the Law, then you don’t believe Christ.
