Luke 23:56 “And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.”
Didn’t they know that with the death of Christ there was no more Sabbath? Also, one can not ignore, “according to the commandment”. Scripture is very precise with wording. If the Scripture called a day the Sabbath, even in the new covenant time, then it was a Sabbath. Scripture is very precise with wording. If the Scripture acknowledged the commandment, then it had not ceased to exist. Remember, the phrase “first day of the week” is really “first of Sabbaths” in the Greek text. The first of Sabbaths was a specific Sabbath in the Spring of the year. The translators added the words day and week. The Translators removed the word Sabbath. The translators promoted church doctrine over truth.
Hebrews 4:9 “There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.”
