The New Covenant is God’s Law Written on the Heart

God’s law is a part of His word and must be included in defining Him. God’s morals are found in his law.

God does not change. His morality does not change. I like to tell people that what was sin the day The Adam was placed in the garden is still sin today. What is sin today was sin that very same day. God can not change. To change what is right and wrong from one day to the next or even from one covenant to the next changes God into another god. A god who changes what is right and wrong can not be counted on for stability. He would not be reliable and thus not much of a god.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

So what does scripture say about the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil? Eating of the tree made one know about Good and Evil. The Law of God does the same thing. It teaches one what is good and what is evil. The tree represented the Law of God.

One time in a Sunday bible class an Elder of the church stood up and began his lesson by saying, “There was no Law before Moses.” So I raised my hand and quoted Genesis 26:5.

“Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

Abraham knew God’s Law. The Book of Jasher says that Abraham grew up learning God’s Law. Noah and Shem taught Moses God’s Law. Scripture also tells us that Noah knew God’s Law. He had to know it in order to load the correct number of animals on to the ark.

God’s Law represents God’s morals. They are a part of God. God does not change.

However as the book of Hebrews shows there were laws added at the time of Moses in the desert. Those are the Laws that were added due to transgression. Christ is covering those requirements for us now. Christ is our high priest and our sacrifice.

Of course as most new testament Christians would say now that was all the old testament. They say that the Law is done away and that we are under grace. Well grace is not a new testament only concept as shown in the past. If the Law of God is done away, then so is the new covenant. Here is the new covenanent.

Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them”.

This is a quote from Jeremiah 31:33. The entire quote is repeated in Hebrews 8:8-10 yet most Christians have no idea that the covenant and the Law are dependent on each other. Get rid of the Law of God and there is no new covenant.
