All the phrases and words shown here are directly tied to Israel. To make these words about any other people destroys the continuity of scripture and the meaning intended by God. Many preachers and teachers misuse the following verses ignoring scripture’s definitions.
1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light".
Now here are verses that define all the terms used in 1 Peter 2:9.
Exodus 19:5-6 "Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine". And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel."
Deuteronomy 14:2 "For thou art an holy people unto Yahweh thy God, and Yahweh hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth."
Deuteronomy 26:18 "And Yahweh hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments".
Titus 2:14 "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."
1 Chronicles 16:13 "O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones".
Psalms 135:4 "For Yahweh hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.
Isaiah 41:8 "But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend."
Isaiah 44:1 "Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen".
The Old and New Testaments have continuity. In the Hebrew and Greek they teach a unified doctrine. God does not change. The same goes for words and their meanings. In all the cases sighted each phrase or word are a description of God’s true Israel. In the one example of the word redeem, by the Law of the Kinsman redeemer, redemption is only for Israel. The modern day Jews are not Israelites.
