Hearing Scripture is Rare in Churches Today

I just listened to a preacher from my past. It had good information. Even his stories helped explain his point.

A couple of years ago I listened to over ten hours of a preacher in Kentucky. I had been told he was a great preacher. I can say that his stories and lessons did not teach anything. They were only designed to make one feel good about themselves. If you can imagine trying to preach from Ephesians chapter two for example and only really using the first couple of verses and ignoring most of the rest of the chapter. That chapter is full of important information that is tied back to Hosea. It is fulfillment of important prophecy from Hosea. The preacher obviously did not know any of that.

Since coming to my current understanding of scripture one of the things I had to get used to was hearing preachers who had so much good information that it was difficult to keep up with them trying to take notes. At the same time they were apologizing for not getting to half of their notes after an hour of preaching. There is so much in the scripture and so little of it is being heard by those in the churches.

Amos 8:11  “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord Yahweh, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of Yahweh”.
