The formalized Christian “worship service” is what it is because of tradition and history with the Catholic church. Scripture shows us something more simple. Consider a living room styled devotional. There was singing, praying, sharing encouragement and scripture. There was also a shared meal.
Communion may be taken. There is some history suggesting that it was taken for a Passover remembrance, 1 Corinthians 5:8. According to an early church writer, the apostle John taught the taking of communion for a Passover remembrance. Either way, there is no prohibition to take it when ever Christians meet.
The Sunday morning “service” has become more about entertainment and a paid speaker.
