No Law Before Moses?

God’s Law, his morals, have always existed. One morning in Sunday school the teacher said, “There was no law before Moses”. This was my response.

Genesis 26:5 “Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

I could have also asked him what Moses was teaching the people two chapters before the commandments were written down by God. The Law was finally written down for a specific reason. Study to show yourse approved.

The Ten Tribes

The general teaching is that the ten Northern tribes of Israel amalgamated into the heathen and disappeared from history. This would make God a promise breaker. We have more than sufficient evidence, both scriptural and historical, to know exactly where those of the house of Israel went and who they are today. Here are just two of many quotes from historical writings.

“…wherefore there are but two tribes in Asia and Europe subject to the Romans, while the Ten Tribes are beyond the Euphrates (Europe) till now, and are an immense multitude, and not to be estimated by numbers.” Flavius Josephus.

“They were peopled by descendants of the Hebrew Race.” Ptolemy on the Western Isles of Britain and Ireland.

No Moon Here Either

Most translations are a little misleading in Genesis 1:16. According to the Hebrew:

Genesis 1:16 “And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, the stars.”

There is no reference to the moon in verse 16.

Genesis 1:14 “And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to divide between the day and the night. And let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years.”

Month, not Moon

When  you read the word moon with a religious context in a verse in scripture, the word is likely actually month. An example is in Colossians 2:16.

“Let no one therefore judge you in eating, or in drinking, or with respect to a feast day or a new month or a Sabbath day”.

The use of the moon is a corruption from Babylon.

There Remains Yet the Sabbath

Mark 2:27-28 And He said to them, The Sabbath came into being for man’s sake, and not man for the Sabbath’s sake. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.

Christ is not Lord over something done away.

Hebrews 4:9 “There remains therefore a Sabbath to the people of God.”

Nothing is better

Psalms 19:7 The Law of Yahweh is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of Yahweh is sure, making the simple wise.

God’s Law, his morals, are for our protection and good health. When we obey them we have protection and good health.

Deuteronomy 5:33 You shall walk in all the ways which Yahweh your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

Some Truth is Uncomfortable

If you love scripture and the truth, then you know all scriptural truth is good and important no matter how uncomfortable it makes some people.

In the Greek Paul wrote

1 Corinthians 7:2 “Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own (exclusive) wife, and let each woman have her own (shared) husband.”

The words “own” are the same in English, but the Greek meanings are entirely different.

There are many various truths hiding in the Greek and Hebrew in Scripture. So, is truth more important than comfort?

The Lake of Fire

What does the lake of fire represent? Scripture tells us the lake of fire isn’t real. The lake of fire is symbolic. The lake of fire is mentioned five times scripture. Two of those verses explain what the lake of fire represents. The lake of fire is the second death. This agrees with the word perish in John 3:16.

Revelation 20:14 Then death and the grave were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Abraham Did Not Marry His Sister

According to an extra-Biblical source Abraham grew up in the house of Shem learning God’s Law. Abraham knew it was wrong to marry his sister. The answer is that Abraham actually married his niece.

Genesis 11:29 with a change of one letter. “And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughters of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.”

The change of the word daughter to daughters is a valid grammatical adjustment in the Hebrew. Also there was no Hebrew word  for nephew or niece so brother and sister are used. For more about the Scripture recommended reading, The Book of Jasher, see http://www.gospelminutes.org/jasher.php

God Does Not Hate Divorce.

Malachi 2:16 “For Yahweh God of Israel says That He hates the putting away (separation, shalach H7971), For it covers one’s garment with violence,” Says Yahweh of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.”

Malachi 2:14-16 is about men who kicked out a wife without cause. In doing so they refused to give the wife a bill of divorcement so that she could continue coverature under another man. This is violence and evil in the sight of Yahweh. The man and woman were only separated, not divorced. This verse is not about divorce.

After a long sermon on the subject, “God Hates Divorce”, I asked the preacher if he knew that Malachi 2:16 is not about divorce. His response was, “Yes”, he knew it.
