The Scriptural Sabbath

The Scriptural Sabbath is not necessarily on Saturday. Unless you are retired or independently wealthy, keeping Yahweh God’s calendar is not possible for us at this time. The actual Sabbath occurs on a different day every year as the annual count always starts with the beginning of Spring. The best we can do is take 24 hours every seven days for rest.

Hebrews 4:9 “There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.”

Sabbath in AD 70

Christ knew the events of AD 70 would occur during the new covenant. Even still He said,

“Pray that your flight will not be in the winter, nor on a Sabbath”, Matthew. 24:20.

Churches teaches the Sabbath is a thing of the past. Should we believe the church or Christ?

Hebrews 4:9 “There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.”

The Whole Bible is Scripture

Paul called the Old Testament scripture.

Romans 1:2 “Which he had promised before, by his prophets, in the holy scriptures”.

Therefore

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

No Longer Under the Schoolmaster

Just what does this mean “No Longer Under a Schoolmaster”?

Galatians 3:24-25 “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.”

For those of you who have a degree this might makes some sense. Let’s say that you received a degree in accounting and are now working as an accountant. When you graduated did you burn your degree, throw away all your books and try to forget all that you learned? Or rather once you were no longer under the schoolmaster who taught you accounting did you remember and use all that you learned?

The first part of our example is commonly taught. The second half where you use what you were taught is reality. Note that the verse says that the Law is what brought us to Christ. If you don’t know the Law, then can you really know Christ?

Father and Son or Nothing

Isaiah 43:11 “I myself am Yahweh; and besides me there is no savior.”

John 10:30 “I and the Father are one.”

Therefore

1 John 2:23 “Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn’t have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also.”

Yahweh God has no Equal

Judges 21:25 “..every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”

This is evil. Never judge scripture by any man. Always judge men by scripture. Placing men or tradition over scripture attempts to makes them equal with God. This creates a new god and idol worship. This is evil in God’s sight.

Greek Root Word eimi

It is important to check root words when looking into the Greek behind a word in Scripture. Any time one looks into the Greek it becomes a continuing study.

In the Greek, Christ was claiming to be Yahweh God when he said, “this is my body” and “this is my blood” in Matthew 26:26.  The word translated “is” is esti a third person singular present indicative of G1510. G1510 is eimi and has the embedded meaning of “I exist”, or “I AM”.

The Greek eimi is also found buried in the word power or authority in Romans 13:1 indicating that the subject is Law based only on the I AM, not man’s law.

Elders at the Gate

There is nothing new under the sun.

The nation of Israel had just left Egypt. This was the first time that Israel was more than one family and also not under the rule of a foreign government. Moses could not deal with all the needs of the people himself.

In Exodus 18:13-26 Moses’ father in law, Jethro, suggested that Moses enlist the leaders of the people to help. Moses taught those leaders God’s Law and statutes. This was the beginning of what later became the Elders at the gate of the city.

When you look at the new testament concept of the Eldership of a church, think about the elders at the city gate in the old testament.

New Covenant Sabbath

Christ died. The new covenant is now in effect. Scripture is always very precise in it’s wording.

Luke 23:56 says, “On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.”

If the Sabbath was no longer a part of the new covenant time then scripture would not have called that day the Sabbath. If there was no more commandment to do so scripture would not have acknowledged it.

Hebrews 4:9 “There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.”

The Not So Lost Tribes of Israel

“They were peopled by descendants of the Hebrew Race.” Ptolemy on the Western Isles of Britain and Ireland.

Ireland’s ancient name, Ibernia, meant new land of the Hebrews. The word British means man of the covenant.

“…wherefore there are but two tribes in Asia and Europe subject to the Romans, while the Ten Tribes are beyond the Euphrates till now [Europe], and are an immense multitude, and not to be estimated by numbers.”   Flavius Josephus, historian and contemporary of the Apostles.

John 7:35 “The Jews therefore said among themselves, “Where will this man go that we won’t find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?”

Even the Pharisees knew where those of the house of Israel had gone. The Dispersion, also in the Greek in James 1:1 and 1 Peter 1:1, refers specifically to those of Israel taken in the Assyrian deportations. The not so lost ten tribes in Europe, Britain and Greece.
